Upgrade Paths:
┌────────────────┐
─────────────────────────────┤ QuickBBS v2.85 ├─────────────────────────────
└────────────────┘
If you have not upgraded to v2.81 General Acceptance, you need
to download v2.81 GA and follow the v2.81 GA upgrade instructions.
(These upgrade instructions *ASSUME* you are upgrading from v2.81)
At this point, there is very *LITTLE* work that the sysop has
to do. This is *MOSTLY* a transparent upgrade to Wide-Beta-1
from QuickBBS v2.81 GA.
1) Copy the Executables & Overlay files over the old Ones.
2) QCONFIG uses a different version of EVENTCFG.DAT.
You must DELETE the old EVENTCFG.DAT files, and create a
new Event data file, and enter entries. The new event system
is more of a dynamic system, and allows the System Operator
to restrict certain QuickBBS features on a event basis.
(Introduced in Beta 4). ( See notes in WHATSNEW.285 for a more
detailed explaination. )
3) New Language Entries have been added & revised in Qconfig.
- Make sure to Add the new entries in the Editor.
To create/add the new entries, enter Qconfig-> General->Language
And hit F1 to enter the Editor. The Language Editor should
detect that you have a older version of the language file and
add the new entries as the *DEFAULTS*.
- Make sure to edit these prompts to SET THE COLOR:
Prompt # 439 - "SUBJ"
Prompt # 440 - "ENCL"
4) Review the Qconfig -> General -> Other screen
Additions :
- "Delete File Attach's", When set to Yes, the User is
prompted *AFTER* they download a File Attach, to
see if they would like to delete the file
attach/file.
* Also, when the message is deleted, the attached
file will be deleted.
* When set to "NO", v2.7x behavior is the norm.
(File Attach's are left alone until the sysop
"weeds" through them).
5) Qconfig -> User Limits -> Forced Mail @ Login
- This will *FORCE* users to Read any waiting mail at login.
It is configurable for *EACH* security Level. (This
way you can allow trusted users to not be forced to
read for Personal Mail Scans.
- This works in conjunction with Check for Waiting Mail Option.
If you have that turned off, then this will honor that
setting. But any time they do a personal mail scan,
this option will be called into play.
6) That is it currently. No other changes are needed at this time.
